Stade de la Tuillière

Customised Font for Signage Design / 2021-07-17

The architectural studios mlzd: and Sollberger Bögli have designed a building for the new football stadium in Lausanne that is radically focused on its function. The design office kong was commissioned for the signage system. They chose a suitably reduced visual language and implementation. The letters of the Formale Grotesque used fold around the building as sector markings corresponding to the unfolded stadium corners. During the construction work, the beta version of Formale Grotesque was used to carry out 1:1 investigations of the concrete structure. Architecture, design and typeface, stand in a radically simple symbiosis
