Sometimes, we are surprised by how far a font can be transported. In the course of the ‘Blender’ font expansion with the Cyrillic character set, we have often been flirting with the idea of inscribing a Soyuz spacecraft. As fortuity would have it, it happened to be the launch of the SpaceX with the Dragon 2 on Saturday May 30 with the NASA astronauts' trip to orbit: The countdown and the mission’s time were displayed on the NASA screens with the ‘Blender’ font, it therefore was part of the 'new era of human space travel’, as the New York Times called it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

iss063e021460 (May 31, 2020) --- Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken of NASA's Commercial Crew Program were aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon as it approached the International Space Station. The Crew Dragon's nose cone is open revealing the spacecraft's docking mechanism that would connect to the Harmony module's forward International Docking Adapter.
